Barb - "Volunteering with Penguin Rehab & Release has been very rewarding. Sharing working bees with caring people, and it feels great when you save a penguin and release it back into the wild. My most memorable moment of many has been helping a penguin in the pool dive again."
Di- "For me the highlight of volunteering is seeing the rehabilitated penguins / birds released back into their natural habitat."
Kathy - "When it's busy it's hectic, and it's usually busy. Working with people who have similar passions is really rewarding and sharing the releases is always special."
Sarah- "Getting to be involved in releases, the washing of oiled birds, and assisting with the rehabilitation of a range of seabirds, from a big albatross to a tiny white-faced storm petrel and of course lots of Little Penguins, are just a few of my highlights as a volunteer."
Tania- "Helping return Little Penguins to the sea is hugely rewarding. I enjoy being one pair of the hands that make this possible. Rock pool fishing for seagull chicks and beach combing are some of my favourite jobs."
Emma- "There's always something to be done, and I'm happy to do pretty much anything. It's worth all the hard work when you get to watch the penguins swim off into the ocean after a successful rehab and release."
Ian- "Just one of the many highlights of volunteering for me, was to take part in the rescue of ten penguin chicks after a dog attack and then to assist in their rehabilitation and eventual release."
Sondra- "Helping with the rescue of 10 orphaned penguin chicks (after a dog attack on the colony at Wynyard) and then being involved in their successful release back to the wild was an amazing experience and taught me a huge amount about these beautiful birds."
